Sam Fender has donated the entirety of his £25,000 honor cash to the trust for venues, which works to protect the Britain's grassroots music venues.

Fender was awarded the award on mid-October as his third album the album was chosen as the best record of the previous year.

The musician has opted to hand the money over to the MVT, in appreciation of the crucial part local spots played in his beginning days.

"I personally would not have achieved this success if it weren't for all the shows I did around the area, and elsewhere, when I was starting out," remarked the artist. "These spaces are legendary, but they are in difficulty."

From early 2023 onward, more than 150 of these venues have shut down – about 16 percent of the whole industry in the UK.

In the last year, well-known musicians like the band Pulp, Coldplay, Katy Perry and Ed Sheeran have all aided the MVT in its efforts to support the industry, by adding a small levy to their ticket costs, which goes to help smaller concert halls.

Sam Fender also joined in, collecting in excess of £100,000 on his live tour to help 38 grassroots venues across Britain.

The money helped spaces that were dealing with potential shutdown due to issues stemming from flooding, fire incidents and personal losses, as well as licensing issues, conflicts and neighbor objections.

Other venues obtained monetary aid in improving infrastructure and gear that positively impacted performers and concertgoers.

"The idea that money from performances in large arenas helps the smaller venues, where it kicks off for musicians like me, is just sensible," Sam Fender has stated.

"The victory was sufficient," said vocalist Heather Small. "The prize was the bonus but we didn't require the cherry, because we had the honor. So our victory touched another person's life."

Recently, the trust revealed it had rescued a couple of local spots in that region, by transferring them to public stewardship.

The Joiners in the city and the second in the city were purchased under the community ownership scheme, which is supported by Arts Council England and enthusiasts who purchase "shares" in the buildings.
